Write Like a Honey Badger partners with businesses, organizations and non-profits across the industry.

The Center for Independent Journalists — This group advocates, educates, and supports freelance content-creators, with special emphasis on those in the Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. It runs webinars, as well as a conference and mentorship program.

The JAWS logo – its name in all-caps, sans-serif, white letters with a frilly ampersand, set against a red backgroundJournalism and Women Symposium (JAWS) — This organization empowers the personal and professional growth of women writers and reporters, and advocates for more inclusive media coverage. It has year-round programming, plus an annual conference. JAWS and Write Like a Honey Badger support each other with mutual 20% discounts for members and alumni. Current president Jennifer Kho also teaches for us, which we’re thrilled about.  (Please reach out to our founder Amanda for more information about the discounts, if you qualify!)

Leigh Shulman’s Workshop — This exclusive online community helps members build writing plans, and offers weekly accountability and coaching/coworking sessions. The Workshop also hosts monthly seminars with experts, including Write Like a Honey Badger founder and lead pitch instructor Amanda Castleman, who taught The Secrets of Pitching Success.

Each freelancer has seven or eight meetings with editors, in addition to panels and lots of casual networking time at meals, after-parties, and pre- and post-trips. Note: if you’re keen, get on the mailing list and apply the day enrollment opens. The conference has been selling out within a few hours lately!
